Image Insertion And Formatting In Google Blogger
Meta Description: Learn the essentials of creating compelling blog posts with this easy-to-follow tutorial on image insertion, in Google Blogger.
This tutorial will cover the fundamental features of most standard post editors. While the exact button icons or menu names might vary slightly depending on your platform (e.g., WordPress, Blogger, Squarespace, custom CMS), the core functionalities remain the same.
Adding Images
Images break up text, illustrate points, and make your posts more engaging.
Step 1: Position Your Cursor
Click in your post editor where you want the image to appear.
Step 2: Find the Image Insertion Button
Look for an icon that resembles a mountain and sun, a picture frame, or "Add Media" / "Insert Image." This is usually found in the toolbar.
Step 3: Upload or Select an Image
You'll typically have two options:
Upload New Image:
Click "Upload Files" or "Choose File."
Browse your computer's files and select the image you want to use.
Click "Open" or "Select."
The image will upload to your media library.
Select Existing Image:
If you've previously uploaded images, they will be in your "Media Library."
Click on the image you wish to use.
Step 4: Add Image Details (Important for SEO and Accessibility)
Before inserting, you'll usually see fields to add:
Alt Text (Alternative Text): Describe the image for visually impaired users and search engines. Example: "A person typing on a laptop with a cup of coffee."
Title: (Sometimes optional) A title for the image, often used by the media library.
Caption: (Optional) Text that appears directly below the image on your post.
Alignment: Choose how the image sits with your text (e.g., left, right, center, none).
Size: Select a predefined size (thumbnail, medium, large, full) or sometimes set custom dimensions.
Step 5: Insert Image
After filling in the details, click "Insert into Post," "Add Image," or a similar button.
Step 6: Edit/Move Image (Optional)
Once inserted, you can usually click on the image in the editor to resize it (by dragging corners), change its alignment, or remove it.
Step 4: Preview Your Post
Before publishing, always use the "Preview" button (often found near the "Publish" button) to see how your post will look to your readers. Check if images are sized correctly as expected.
